Designer Liang Dong founded the brand ATTEMPT in 2015. The brand often explores the relationship between contradictions and coexistence, and finds a balance between movement and stillness. It depicts a futuristic vision while focusing on the portrayal of details, creating a restrained and cool aesthetic. The brand tirelessly pursues the impact of design on itself and on people.

The term “Interstice” in the anthropological research of Victor W. Turner refers to a state of sensory gap. It describes the uncertainty and chaos that individuals experience in transition points and rites of passage, which are often accompanied by ritual, symbolic, and symbolic behavior. In the liminal state, people are suspended and waiting, occupying a space-time where possibilities and crises coexist.

The ATTEMPT A/W23 collection constructs a fictional future world singularity where individuals coexist in a state of Interstice, blurring the boundaries of individuality. Based on pragmatism and inspired by classic uniforms, the series creates primitive futuristic equipment that combines design aesthetics with functionality.

The products are innovated based on the fusion of military equipment elements, with detachable and interchangeable designs that emphasize the applicability and combination variability of the equipment, and broaden the freedom of practical application. At the same time, ATTEMPT also explores nature and biological structures, inspired by the shell-like structure of the derrière of bullet-tailed moths, and applies it to the structural design of clothing. The edge contours of butterfly wings are used in details such as collars and lapels. The patchwork design of our block faces is created from the block combinations of earth rocks, and the camouflage pattern simulates the structure of terrain plates. Seeking inspiration in the concrete and pursuing change in the existing is the methodology of this collection.

The interweaving of these design contexts presents a unique sense of coldness and power in the products, depicting a personality portrait of wandering travelers, thus demonstrating the spiritual world pursued by ATTEMPT.
